You will start seeing major funerals by January 2027, so it’s getting closer — senior politician Kabuleta declares

January 2027

Former presidential candidate and National Economic Empowerment Dialogue (NEED) leader Joseph Kabuleta has made fresh predictions about Uganda’s political future, saying major funerals will begin in January 2027.

Kabuleta claims the anticipated events are drawing closer as he revises his earlier prediction about the end of President Yoweri Museveni’s political dynasty.

Speaking on his Morning After podcast, Kabuleta said he had initially predicted that the Museveni dynasty would be gone by June 2027 but had now moved his timeline forward. “I said that by June 2027, the Museveni dynasty will be gone but now I wish to revise a bit,” he said.

Kabuleta then warned his audience that January 2027 would mark the beginning of a period of major funerals. “You will start seeing major funerals by January. I’m telling you this. So it’s getting closer. I’m even pulling it closer than the June I said,” he declared.

The politician described the anticipated developments as good news, linking his interpretation to his Christian beliefs and biblical teachings about the deaths of the wicked and the prosperity of the righteous.

He quoted scripture to explain why he believes some deaths may be welcomed by those who see them as connected to a broader change in the country.

Kabuleta, however, did not identify the people he expects to die or provide evidence to support his prediction. He also did not explicitly state that the funerals would involve Museveni or members of his government, leaving questions about the specific meaning of his remarks and their connection to his forecast about the ruling establishment.

He urged his listeners to look forward to the transition into 2027, suggesting that major developments would follow as the new year begins.

Kabuleta expressed confidence that the coming period would bring changes he considers positive for Uganda, although he did not explain what events would lead to those changes.

His comments come amid continuing debate about political succession in Uganda, where Museveni has been in power since 1986.

The president’s long tenure has kept questions about the future of his administration at the centre of political discussion, particularly among opposition figures who challenge the current political order.

Kabuleta’s latest remarks bring forward his earlier June 2027 timeline by five months, placing January at the centre of his new prediction. However, the forecast remains an unverified claim, with no supporting evidence provided and no individuals identified.

His statements have nevertheless attracted attention because of their dramatic nature and the questions they raise about what he believes will happen in Uganda in 2027.
