The Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) leadership in Amolatar district said they have nullified all ongoing membership registration exercises, declaring them “unauthorised, false and misleading.”
The decision was made during a district stakeholders’ meeting chaired by PLU district coordinator Peter Okodo. The meeting was convened to streamline the league’s operations and restore order at the grassroots.
In their three binding resolutions, the stakeholders ordered the immediate withdrawal of all registration books circulating in villages and trading centres in the name of enrolling PLU members.
The leadership clarified that no official registration exercise had been sanctioned in Amolatar and directed anyone in possession of the books to surrender them to the district coordinator immediately.
To address the leadership vacuum blamed for fuelling the confusion, the meeting resolved to establish a formal eight-member structure at the district level and similar eight-member structures in every sub-county.
The structures will coordinate all PLU activities across the district.
The stakeholders also resolved to organise a legitimate, district-wide PLU registration launch in two weeks. The launch will mark the official commencement of membership enrollment in Amolatar.
In another resolution, stakeholders led by Kizito Okao, councillor for Agikdak sub-county, condemned the district security team for allegedly failing to stop the unauthorised exercise.

They accused the security team of allowing unauthorised individuals to mislead the public using fake registration books and alleged that some officials had shielded those behind the exercise.
According to PLU, the failure to act had deepened confusion and eroded trust among PLU supporters at the grassroots.
Speaking at the meeting, Amolatar Deputy Resident District Commissioner Magwar Obonyo urged PLU mobilisers to remain committed to the core values of the National Resistance Movement—patriotism, discipline and service to the people.
Coordinator Peter Okodo also called on PLU leaders to support the transition of households from subsistence farming to the money economy, in line with President Yoweri Museveni’s call for socio-economic transformation.
He urged grassroots leaders to mobilise communities to embrace wealth creation programmes and engage in commercial production.
Okodo further appealed for teamwork, saying unity would be critical to strengthening PLU in Amolatar district.
