The Principal of Namasale Technical Institute, Canon Ogwal Moses Owiny, has appealed to the government to deploy more teaching staff to the institution.
Currently, the institute has thirteen teachers on the government payroll, while forty-one others are employed under non-government arrangements.
Canon Ogwal explained that the shortage of government teachers had forced the institution to recruit additional staff to support teaching and learning.
He said increased government support would enable the institution to redirect funds currently spent on staff salaries toward other developmental projects.
Canon Ogwal also commended the institute’s performance and thanked parents for continuing to trust and support the school.
He noted that the institution had made significant progress since his appointment in 2022. Student enrollment has increased from just sixty-one students to more than one thousand.
He added that the school now has adequate classroom facilities to accommodate the growing number of learners.
Canon Ogwal said the institution remains committed to its mission and vision of ensuring that students excel academically and acquire relevant technical skills.
On discipline, he said students are encouraged to participate in activities such as church services, sports, and other co-curricular programs.
He added that maintaining a close relationship with the students enables him to receive regular updates and address issues affecting them in time.
Namasale Technical Institute is the only tertiary institution in Amolatar funded under the Council of Chancellors of Uganda, commonly known as COU.
It is located in Namasale Town Council, Amolatar District, in central Uganda, and was established in 1986.
