The Regional Police Commander (RPC) Kiira Region, SSP Charles Nsaba, has commended the top police management led by Abas Byakagaba for the continued strategic, coordinated efforts aimed at ensuring a successful and memorable sporting season.

The 3rd edition of the IGP Tournament Cup began on August 1, and the first round will end on August 29.

Teams will then go for a one-month recess, after which the second round will resume.

The ongoing tournament draws participants from all policing districts, divisions, specialised units and directorates, and is clustered into eight administrative and managerial groups across the country.

Kiira Region falls under the Eastern Region and comprises three policing divisions: Kiira Central (CPS Jinja), Kiira East (Kakira) and Kiira North (Buwenge).

The opening game in Kiira Region was between Kiira North and Kiira Central, ending 0-3 in favour of Kiira Central.

The second game saw Kiira North being hammered by Kiira East (Kakira) 0-3. The duo are topping the table.

The final game under the first round will be played on August 29, when Kiira Central will have to board Eagles Air to reach Kakira grounds for the derby game.

The head of Human Resources, Kiira Region, SSP Andrew Muzira, stated that the tournament continues to enhance teamwork, physical fitness, unity, discipline, resilience, fair play and camaraderie within the force.

He added that at the centre of the tournament’s progress is the close collaboration between Kiira Region and its strategic partnership with UNIFI Uganda. UNIFI Uganda provides great support and motivation to the players.

On Thursday, August 20, the RPC received three sets of jerseys from UNIFI Uganda for the three teams.

He further expressed deepest gratitude towards UNIFI for rallying behind the IGP Cup.
