Amolatar District Local Government has organised community barazas across the 16 sub-counties and town councils. The events aim to sensitise locals and gather feedback regarding central government programmes.

Speaking to tndNews, Uganda, on Tuesday, Andrew Kizito Ogwang, the District Communications Officer, stated that the eight-day event will cover all 16 sub-counties and town councils in Amolatar.

Ogwang mentioned that the meetings will involve civil servants from various departments: heads of departments, the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), the Resident District Commissioner (RDC), NRM leaders at various levels, the LC5 chairperson, and LC3 chairpersons from all sub-counties and town councils.

He noted that the leaders will evaluate central government programs including the Parish Development Model (PDM), Emyoga, and the Livestock Restocking Program, among other ongoing initiatives that require community feedback.

“We expect to encounter several challenges during this process,” Ogwang said, without citing one. “However, discussing these issues will help the district identify various bottlenecks in government programs and gather citizens’ input to help improve the budget for the 2027/2028 financial year.”

Magwar Obonyo, the Deputy RDC of Amolatar, confirmed receiving the invitation for the baraza. He emphasised that their office will fully participate, noting that it is a great opportunity to gather public feedback on various government initiatives.

The program kicked off on August 18 in Oplai and Aputi sub-counties. On Wednesday, the leaders will move to Akwon and Agikdak sub-counties.
