Deputy RDC Magwar mobilises Amolatar for upcoming LC elections

Amolatar | Deputy Resident District Commissioner (RDC) of Amolatar, Obonyo Magwar, has issued a clarion call to all National Resistance Movement (NRM) party leaders and members, urging them to actively participate in the upcoming LCI, LCII, and Women Council elections.

In an interview with the press at his office on Wednesday, Magwar emphasised the importance of grassroots participation and outlined the government’s commitment to socio-economic transformation.

Citing the official roadmap released by the Electoral Commission, Magwar reminded the public that the elections are scheduled to kick off with voter registration from July 6 to 10, 2026, followed by nominations from July 15 to 19.

“I call upon all people to take Baraza and actively engage in these elections,” he stated. “These structures are the foundation of our democracy and development. It is crucial that we elect leaders who are committed to serving their communities.”

The deputy RDC’s mobilisation drive comes amid ongoing efforts to heal internal party divisions that were exposed during the previous parliamentary elections.

In his address, Magwar also took a firm stance against the misuse of government poverty alleviation funds, warning that the government will not tolerate corruption or extortion targeting vulnerable beneficiaries.

“Programmes like the Parish Development Model (PDM) are designed to uplift our people,” he said. “We have received reports of individuals and even some local officials extorting money from the very poor whom these programs target.

“This must stop,” he asserted, echoing his recent caution against the misuse of PDM funds for unproductive purposes like alcohol or bride price .

He further highlighted the need to protect the electorate from exploitation by “witch doctors and prayer warriors” who allegedly extort large sums of money from community members.

“When our people are taken through the rightful ideology of social economic transformation, they are less likely to believe in such destructive falsehoods,” Magwar noted.

He encouraged the party to utilise its structures to reach every village, ensuring that government programs are understood and implemented effectively.

Magwar’s call to action follows recent efforts to foster unity and development in the district, including a district-wide prayer breakfast aimed at healing divisions and unlocking the region’s potential.
