Amolatar district gets shs530m solar-powered water project

Amolatar district has commissioned a shs530 million solar-powered water project that will provide safe and clean water to more than 1,000 community members in Odyak trading center, Odyak sub-county.

While presiding over the launch, Amolatar’s Assistant Resident District Commissioner, Pule Boniface, commended government efforts in extending clean and safe water to rural communities.

He also thanked the Ministry of Water for training the Water User Committee (WUC) in proper management of the facility.

Pule urged the committee to ensure adequate security at the site to prevent theft of key components such as solar panels.

The Amolatar Principal Assistant Chief Administrative Officer, Acio Susan Eyura, appealed to residents to safeguard the facility, emphasizing the need for community ownership to sustain the project.

She further instructed the contractor to continue monitoring the water system during the six-month defect liability period to ensure all faults are addressed before full handover to the WUC.

Meanwhile, the Mutu sub-county LCIII chairperson Pule Thomas called on the Ministry of Water to extend the project to neighbouring areas such as Abiram trading center and nearby government institutions, including Mutu Seed Secondary School, Mutu Primary School, and Nakatiti Health Center III.

The project, undertaken by Nexus Green Limited with funding from UK Export Finance, covers a 2km radius and will benefit villages including Agwenonywal, Acutcami, Odyak, and Aberler B, Ogwang Andrew, Amolatar district communication officer said.
