Kole | Since the establishment of Alito town council in Kole North by the Ministry of Local Government in 2021, both the town council and the newly created sub-county have been operating from the same premises.
According to Tom Olet, the LC3 chairperson of Alito sub-county, this shared arrangement has significantly hindered development in the new administrative unit.
Speaking to tndNews, Uganda, on Monday, June 22, 2026, Olet confirmed that construction of the new administrative headquarters, located in Amuge parish, is now 70% complete.
He noted that prior to the acquisition of land for this project, both the sub-county and the town council continued to share office space—with the town council operating from the old sub-county building, while the sub-county staff worked from the sub-county chief’s residence.

Olet further explained that the Kole district local government, with funding from the central government, allocated shs120 million for the construction.
The building is expected to be completed within six months, with commissioning scheduled before the end of August 2026.
He also recounted that over the past five years, some staff members were forced to work under trees, which severely affected development plans.
On several occasions, rainfall destroyed official documents, compromising office records and service delivery.
Olet, who also serves as the general secretary for the Lango District LC3 Chairpersons, urged the government to allocate funds for the construction of headquarters in all sub-counties that currently lack proper facilities.
He emphasised that this would greatly benefit the local communities they serve. He expressed appreciation to President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for his leadership.
“As Olet, I am ready to work with the NRM government, although I contested as an independent candidate.”
Additionally, the sub-county has requested the North Kyoga Regional Police Commander to collaborate with Kole district leadership to establish a police unit post.
Olet noted that the sub-county has already donated land for police barracks, a move intended to reduce the high costs of renting accommodation for police officers—expenses that have burdened the sub-county since its creation five years ago.
Chairperson Olet thanked the Kole district leaders, particularly the elected officials and technical staff, for facilitating this development at the right time.
He also encouraged parents to ensure their children remain in school, highlighting that in the recent national assessments, Kole district ranked 38th nationally and first in the Lango sub-region in terms of service delivery to the local community.
