Uthuman Mubarak Mugisha, 29, sworn in as Hoima LC5 chairperson

Uthman Mubarak Mugisha, 29, was sworn in as Hoima district LC5 chairperson on Wednesday for his full term.

Uthuman won the chairmanship race on an independent ticket, defeating his opponent, Vicent Muhumuza Savanna, who had defeated him in NRM primaries.

Mubaraka started his political journey in 2023 and was elected in a by-election to replace his fallen father Kirungi Kadiri who served before his passing in a road crash.

During the swearing in ceremony, the chairperson was issued the national constitution, government official emblem, national flag, the Uganda coat of arms, and a stamp.

He was sworn in together with thirty four district councillors.

Some of the district councillors include Ongirwoth K Felix for Bombo, Byanganga Emmanuel for Buhanika sub-county, the former district speaker, Swaibu Nyangabyaki for Bulindi town council, and Kumakech Geoffrey for Buseruka sub-county.

Others are Darlaston Kusiima, the female district councillor Bombo/ Kisukuma, Hilary Tumusiime, district councillor for Kyabigambire, Nymaizi Justine Judith, female councillor, Buhanika sub-county, Adokorech Agnes, Buseruka, Sophi Kaseregenyi, district councillor for PWDs, James Magambo Mulindambura, district councillor for Kiganja sub-county, among others.

Uthuman pledged better service delivery during his political term in office.

The former Hoima district Khadi, Sheik Musa Mabanja, while referring to the Bible/Quran, told leaders to desist from pride, greed and arrogance in their leadership in order to attain diplomatic consistency, total tolerance and reconciliation so that they achieve unity, peace and development.

Besides swearing, the ceremony also featured the election of the district council speaker, among others.

The swearing in was presided over by the Hoima High Court Chief Magistrate, George Kunihira.
