Museveni wishes outgoing cabinet members “good luck”

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni will be sworn in for the seventh consecutive term on May 12 following his presidential election victory on January 15 polls.

Museveni, according to Justice Simon Byabakama’s Electoral Commission, garnered more than 7 million votes.

He was followed by Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine of the National Unity Platform (NUP) party.

After his swearing in, Museveni, 81, will name a new cabinet within “days or weeks.”

He’s also expected to retain old faces, in addition to bringing on board young faces, sources say.

Ahead of what looks to be the most talked month of May in terms of who becomes a minister, Museveni had this to say on May 4.

“Today, I chaired the final Cabinet meeting of the outgoing government and later hosted members to a luncheon in appreciation of their dedicated service to our country.

“This is the Cabinet that ushered Uganda into middle-income status, and I thank everyone who contributed to this achievement, including the Cabinet Secretariat for effectively managing the business of cabinet.

“I thank them all and wish them good luck.”
