The level of arson in Abongomola sub-county, Kwania district remains alarmingly high. Within just the past two months, more than five houses have been set ablaze.
Ronny Okwii, a resident of Amulu A, Acungi parish in Abongomola sub-county, spoke to tndNews, Uganda, and appealed for help and an investigation following a heartbreaking incident on April 30, 2026.
His house was burned down, resulting in the loss of property valued at over shs1.5 million.
Okwii further expressed his fear, recalling a past tragedy in 1999 when his brother was shot and killed.
He worries that if such perpetrators are not dealt with, he remains in grave danger.
Calvine Opio, the LC1 chairperson of Amulu A, Acungi parish, confirmed the report. He stated that he will convene an emergency meeting to address the rising cases of insecurity and lawlessness currently affecting the area.
Ronald Opio, the GISO of Abongomola sub-county, when contacted regarding the security report, confirmed that arson cases are indeed on the rise.
He noted that more than five houses have been burned in the last two months alone.
Opio added that because these acts are putting lives at great risk, his office and the sub-county leadership will write to the Kwania District Security Committee to organize a major peace meeting to find a lasting solution.
