Authorities of Amolatar town council on March 31 buried the body of an unidentified man.
The deceased was found floating at the Kayago landing site in Namasale, Amolatar district. Since his death, none of his relatives came forward to claim him.
Isaac Oyuru, the Health Inspector for Amolatar town council told tndNews, Uganda on Tuesday morning that the burial would take place following permission by the police.
“An extensive search for the deceased’s relatives yielded no results,” he said.
The body was discovered on March 29, 2026, while still in the water. Police recovered it and transported it to the Amolatar Health Center IV mortuary.
In doing so there was hope someone would identify or claim the deceased. However, no one appeared.

tndNews, Uganda understands that the council requested police authorisation on Tuesday morning to proceed with the burial.
The health inspector urged anyone with a missing relative to report to the Amolatar Central Police Station.
“They can check if they recognise the deceased from photographs taken by the police,” he added.
