Amolatar district local government council has presented a draft budget of shs32,016,169 billion for the financial year 2026/2027.
The proposed budget has seen an increase from the shs31 billion allocated in the financial year 2025/2026.
A council meeting chaired by Martin Ayonga, the district vice chairperson Sam Onyang who doubles as secretary for finance and administration, revealed that the district expects to receive shs30.7 billion from the central government.
Shs682 million from external donors and development partners, and shs610 million from local revenue.
The primary focus areas of the budget include infrastructure, production, education, health, and water.
A significant portion of the budget, amounting to shs20,03405 billion has been allocated towards human capital development, which covers health, education, community services, and water.
Integrated transport and infrastructure are set to receive shs1,903,499 billion, while tourism and private sector development have been allocated shs91.957 million.
Other sectors of natural resources, environmental (climate change); land and water management have been allocated shs238.253 million.
Agro-industrialisation is designated shs1.883517 billion, governance and security 1.709774 billion, and public sector transformation—specifically administration—is allocated shs4.313867 billion.
The implementation of the development plan, encompassing finance, planning, and internal audit functions, has been assigned shs614.012 million.
This comprehensive budget proposal will be presented to the relevant committee for review before final approval by the council.
