NRM, Independent candidates share success in Amolatar LC3 polls

In the just-concluded local council three elections, NRM candidates in Amolatar saw significant outcomes across fifteen sub-counties.

The ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) secured six slots, while the Uganda People’s Congress (UPC) won two positions.

Independent candidates claimed five seats, and the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) gained two positions.

In Muntu sub-county, incumbent Pule Thomas retained his position garnering 2,399 votes. His nearest rival, Agwea Alfred Okuja from NRM, managed only 1,069 votes.

Ocen Alfred Yubu successfully defended his seat in Naibwoyo with 1,291 votes, followed by NRM candidate Owak Tom Oyom, who received 689 votes.

FDC’s Okot Alfred and independent candidate Okello Anthony trailed far behind with just 19 and 32 votes, respectively.

In Agwingiri, UPC’s Patrick Balmoi won with 973 votes, unseating incumbent Epanye Geofrey of FDC, who obtained 886 votes. NRM’s Okello Martin finished with 381 votes.

Independent candidate Okello Charles Opee emerged victorious in Aputi with 1,076 votes, surpassing NRM’s Engim Patrict, who received 920 votes.

UPC candidate Ayaa Tom garnered 212 votes, while independents Opio Cedric and Obang Francis received 24 and 63 votes, respectively.

Incumbent Ongu Remebo retained his Namasale sub-county LC3 seat convincingly, defeating NRM’s Ojek Tonny with a remarkable victory margin of 1,030 votes.

Remebo received a total of 1,682 votes against Tonny’s 749. UPC’s Ayen Rapeal got 643 votes while independent Omia Robert ended with a mere 14 votes.

In Arwotcek sub-county, Independent candidate Aboko Moses Dolotia won with 1,243 votes, defeating NRM’s Emar Joseph, who received 811 votes, and incumbent Ogwal Tom of FDC, who secured 760 votes.

In Agikdak sub-county, Ogwal James, running as an independent, won by a narrow margin of 1,146 votes, edging out Elwange JB who got 1,132 votes.

In Etam sub-county, incumbent George Okello Ongol successfully retained his seat with 1,054 votes, ahead of Oguta Alfred, who received 805 votes.

NRM’s Abura Isaac also retained his seat, as did Apenyo Felix in Abeja sub-county.

In Amolatar town council, incumbent Etum Gregorey earned 2,001 votes, outperforming UPC’s Okello Chrispus, who gained only 612 votes. In Acii, Peter Okori Okot retained his LC3 seat with 1,003 votes.

In Namasale town council, Opwonya Bosco of UPC won with 981 votes, defeating Oyuku Arafat and Otunga Geoffrey, who received 872 and 320 votes, respectively.

Moving forward, in Akwon sub-county, there was no vote count due to issues at one polling station, prompting the electoral commission to reschedule voting.

In Odiak parish in Muntu sub-county, Opon Samuel of FDC won with 386 votes against NRM’s Emwalu James, who garnered 337 votes.

The NRM celebrated victories in Opali, Amolatar town council, Etam sub-county, Etam town council, Acii sub-county, and Abeja sub-county.

Independents triumphed in Awelo, Nalibwoyo, Aputi, Agikdak, and Arwotcek sub-counties, while UPC secured wins in Agwingiri and Namasale town council.

FDC took seats in Muntu and Namasale sub-counties.
