The Leader of Opposition (LoP) in Parliament who doubles as the Nakawa West MP Joel Ssenyonyi says the decision by the former Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) whip in Parliament Yusuf Nsibambi to cross to the NRM is for the benefit of the opposition.
Before officially crossing from FDC to NRM on February 18, Yusuf and other opposition politicians visited President Yoweri Museveni at State House Entebbe.
The State House meeting was one of the formal steps to put an end to opposing the government.
After that meeting, Nsibambi alleged that the closed-door discussions focused on addressing the plight of opposition leaders jailed across various detention centres.

LoP Ssenyonyi says Nsibambi’s defection relieves the opposition of the pretentious character of the outgoing Mawokota South MP.
Shortly after his unveiling as a member of the yellow brigade and passenger of the yellow bus, Yusuf said: “When we were in FDC, we thought we could deliver on the side of defiance, but it was all in vain.
“Our numbers keep falling, and the leadership is not straight, so I have decided to join NRM for more service delivery.”
Now that Yusuf has joined, how many of his supporters will follow up? Rumours are that he’s having at least 150 to join him in the NRM.
