Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) MP for Mawokota South Yusuf Nsibambi has reportedly disconnected electricity from a village in his constituency after suffering a heavy defeat in the January 15 polls.
Yusuf said the electricity was connected using his own money, adding that voters should learn to appreciate the efforts made by their leaders.
The FDC MP also warned residents to stop criticising him, threatening to burn down the transformer.
He claims to have purchased the transformer using his personal funds.
Nsibambi was defeated in his reelection bid by Suzan Nakawuki of the National Resistance Movement (NRM).
“I performed better than anybody who has ever represented this constituency,” he said on January 21 on CBS Radio.
He added: “I did my best. I introduced several boreholes, upgraded many roads, and provided over 160 bursaries, but people did not value all that.”
In the 11th Parliament, Nsibambi is a member of the Shadow Cabinet and FDC Whip.
