Police at Apac Central Police Station have started investigating a case of suspected murder reported at Aboo Cell, Bardong Ward, Arocha Division, Apac Municipality.
The report was made on February 2, 2026, at 3:51pm by Okello Tom Richard, 65. Okello is the LC1 chairperson of Aboo Cell, Bardong Ward, Arocha Division, Apac Municipality.
SP Patrick Jimmy Okema, PRO for North Kyoga Region, in a statement on Tuesday, identified the deceased as Awanyi Ezra, 7 months old, and resident of Aboo Cell, Bardong Ward, Arocha Division.
It is alleged that on January 24 after the elections, the deceased, his mother Namboze Robinah, and a babysitter identified as Monica left home and never returned.
The father of the child, Owino Mathew, reportedly made efforts to trace them through relatives without success.
On February 3, children who had gone fishing and hunting at Aboo Cell discovered a half-buried body with one foot exposed.
“They became alarmed and informed Okuta Maxwell, who rushed to the scene and found a crowd already gathered,” SP Okema added.
He immediately contacted the LC1 chairperson, who confirmed the information and proceeded to make a report at Apac CPS. Police officers responded promptly and commenced investigations.

The scene was processed and documented by the District SOCO, SP Okema stated. “The body was retrieved and conveyed to Apac Main Hospital Mortuary for postmortem examination.Statements were recorded from relevant witnesses.
Efforts to trace the mother of the deceased and the babysitter are ongoing. Inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the death continue, and any further developments will be communicated in due course.
“We call for calmness from immediate family members and the general public, as police we are committed to seeing that justice prevails, as we appeal to anyone with information that can support investigation to quietly share with police.”
