Two people died instantly after being involved in a deadly traffic crash as a tipper lorry collided with a Bajaj Boxer in Hoima City.
The crash occurred on Thursday at River Wambabya in Kibingo Upper Cell, approximately one and a half kilometres from the Hoima City centre along the Hoima-Bugambe Road, passing through Duhaga, Hoima West City Division.
The deceased were quickly identified as Richard Atugonza and Evelyn Irumba, all residents of Nyamulima village, Bugambe sub-county in Kikuube district.
According to eyewitnesses, the blue tipper lorry, registration number UA 748DC, was heading towards Bugambe from Hoima Town when it collided with a Bajaj boxer, registration number UFU 185Y.
Meanwhile, the deaths were confirmed by the Hoima City DPC, SP Hassan Ssekalema who attributed the cause to reckless driving.
The bodies of the deceased were taken to the Hoima City mortuary for postmortem while the wreckage of the vehicle and the motorcycle were towed to Hoima CPS yard.
Sam Musinguzi, the area chairman of Kibingo Upper Cell mourned the incident, urging road users to always take keen caution of traffic rules to avoid accidents.
By the time of the incident, both police and residents were still unable to clearly identify the driver.
