The territorial police in Kwania conducted intelligence-led operations on October 5, 2025, at around 8 am within Aduku sub-county following reported cases of simple robbery, aggravated robbery and assaults.
North Kyoga Regional Police PRO, SP Jimmy Patrick Okema has identified the suspects as Waca Abel, 19, Otucu Abel, 19, and Ogeang Zadock, 19.
Others are Okullo Isaac of 16 years, Ogwal Sam, 17, Okabo Innocent, 19, and Omoka Augustine, 17. Others are Agweno Jonathan, 17, Ocen Amos, 15, and Ogwang Paul, 16.
Ogwal Hendry, 17 and Wacha Fred, 32 were also arrested.
The operation, SP Okema says, was carried out by the DPC of Kwani to respond to “a public outcry of weighing people in the night while going back home, assaulting and robbing them of their properties.”
A few cases of house breakings and burglaries, simple robberies, assaults, among others, have been reported to the police.
“A total of 12 suspects were arrested, and on search, several other suspected stolen properties were recovered with them and some dangerous tools used to injure people,” SP Okema reveals.
As of Wednesday, all were still in custody at Kwania CPS for investigation. Police started recording their statements on October 5 for compilation and submission to the Resident State Attorney for perusal and legal guidance on preferred charges against them.
“This strategy has helped us clean up most urban towns and trading centres,” the PRO says.
“We call for support from local leadership and community members to have such categories apprehended to face the law.”
Ahead of Uganda’s 63rd Independence commemoration on October 9, North Kyoga Regional Police authorities have warned criminals against disturbing the current peace and security.
