Museveni in Lango: Amolatar youths demand better services

Gerald Steven Okello, the Speaker of the NRM youth league in Amolatar district, has expressed excitement over President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni’s visit to the Lango sub-region as he mobilises support ahead of the 2026 general elections.

Okello said the president’s presence should bring lasting solutions to pressing issues in Amolatar, particularly the poor road network which has hindered transportation and slowed service delivery.

He emphasised that improved road infrastructure would not only ease movement but also boost access to social services across the district.

The youth leader further appealed to the president to support young people through the establishment of a youth support centre in Amolatar.

According to him, such a facility would enhance mobilisation for the ruling party while also empowering the youth with opportunities for training and engagement in income-generating activities.

Okello also urged the president to extend support to youth SACCOs as a means of uplifting young people from poverty.

Meanwhile, Daniel Okello, Chairperson of the NRM Youth League in Namasale sub-county, echoed similar concerns, stressing the urgent need for the rehabilitation of roads in the area.

He said many villages remain inaccessible during the rainy season, a challenge that has greatly affected trade, education, and access to health services.

Daniel further called upon the president to strengthen health care facilities in Amolatar. He noted that the district lacks a fully-fledged hospital, forcing residents to travel long distances in search of specialised treatment.

He appealed for the establishment of a district hospital to ease the burden on communities and improve the general health system.

As Museveni prepares to traverse Lango, youth leaders in Amolatar say they are optimistic that the visit will translate into tangible projects for the district.

They believe government investment in infrastructure, health, and youth empowerment would not only improve livelihoods but also consolidate support for the ruling NRM party in the coming elections.

Day one of President Yoweri Museveni’s campaign trail in the Lango sub-region has kicked off, as seven other presidential candidates also seek support ahead of Uganda’s January 2026 general elections.
