The Minister of Health for Uganda, Dr Jane Ruth Aceng, is in the United States of America’s City of New York.
Dr Aceng and her delegation are in the U.S. for the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA80), with the main event taking place on 1st Avenue between E.42nd and 48th streets.
Following their arrival, on Monday morning (4pm EAT), Dr Aceng and her team held a high-level bilateral meeting with the Bureau of Global Health Security and Diplomacy.
“We had fruitful and impactful discussions centered on the new America Global Health Strategy,” she said.
Dr Aceng, who is also the Lira City woman MP, stated: “Uganda appreciates the US Government and the American people for the continued support to the health sector in promoting lifesaving interventions.”
The UNGA80 will run under the theme “Better together: 80 years and more for peace, development and human rights.”
The UN General Assembly is the main legislative and policy organ of the United Nations.
193 member countries form the UN, with the Vatican City and the State of Palestine as permanent non-member observer states.
