In an intelligence-led operation on August 30, 2025, Police in Dokolo district conducted a cordon and search within Dokolo town council.
The operation resulted in the arrest of 19 male and 3 female adults suspected of being part of a gang responsible for terrorizing the area, particularly during night hours.
The suspects were found in possession of various exhibits, including marijuana, government stores—such as one pair of military shoes—and dangerous weapons like a panga.
All items were recovered and logged as evidence. The individuals were immediately taken into police custody for processing, North Kyoga Region police PRO, SP Jimmy Patrick Okema, said.
He revealed that the screening of the suspects was conducted in the presence of local leadership. “Following this process, three individuals were released.
“Statements were recorded from the remaining 19 suspects, and their files are now being compiled for submission to the Resident State Attorney (RSA) for perusal and legal guidance on charges.”
SP Okema emphasized that such operations will continue, calling for ongoing support from community members to help create a crime-free society.
“As police, our commitment towards the safety of the community has been tested, and we shall continue with the full support of all stakeholders,” SP Okema stated.
