Ibuje farmer aged 66 found dead near home

Police in Apac district have launched a serious investigation into the suspected murder of Ogwang Washington, aged 66.

Until his death, Ogwang was a resident of Adok B, Alworoceng Parish, in Ibuje sub-county, Apac district.

The police, in a statement, said Washington was discovered dead at Adok B, Alworoceng, Ibuje sub-county. The matter was immediately reported to the police by Odyek Patrick, aged 56, a resident of Agengi Cell, Central Ward, Akere Division, Apac Municipality.

SP Jimmy Patrick Okema, the police PRO for the North Kyoga Region said on August 10, 2025, the deceased left his home at around 11:00 am to look for a grinding machine to process his maize and later returned with a tarpaulin.

At around 3:00 pm, he bathed and went to Alekoli Trading Center to watch a local football match but never returned home. He was later found dead near his residence.

On August 11, 2025, at around 2:00 pm, the deceased was discovered lying dead along the road from Alekoli Trading Center, close to his home, SP Okema added.

“Police were immediately informed, and a case of suspected murder was registered at Kidilani Police Post. A team of officers, led by the OC of Kidilani Police Post visited the scene, retrieved the body, and conveyed it to Apac Main Hospital Mortuary, where a postmortem examination was expected to be conducted.”

Police confirmed that investigations are ongoing, and no suspects have been arrested yet.

They urge anyone with information regarding the incident to come forward and assist in the investigation.
