“My vision for Oyam is to create wealth in the hands of the wananchi through agriculture, a well planned education system and empowering women and youth in the district.
“Many things have been said about my manifesto for Oyam district but let me let you know it clearly: On agriculture, you have seen a sample of maize corn given to me.
“I have seen an acute problem in Oyam district and that is poverty. Poverty has taken everywhere and that is why my manifesto is focusing on wealth creation through a number of things.
“People are asking me: but, how will you achieve that alone? Me alone can not do it but you the wananchi. I’ll only give you the sample of what I have done which should encourage you that I am the right candidate for this race.
“This is not the first time we are going to get a flag bearer for the woman MP. For 15 years, we have sent a woman MP who is from UPC. Why has it been like that for this long? It is because the NRM hasn’t got the strongest woman to stand against other parties. They only come to hold the flag and get some money from the NRM party as a flagbearer and they are defeated in the general elections.
“When you want to go to Parliament, you don’t come unprepared, when not ready. On maize seeds, that is just a sample of the quality of a leader we want in Oyam.
“This year, I have sponsored five children across Oyam district. All the children who passed with first grade received mattresses and boxes – I have just started. As leaders, we have to sacrifice and lead. Nobody should tell you “giving people hands outs are not good.
“As I said, poverty has taken over Oyam, the maize you have in the gardens, will make it possible for your children to go to school – after 15 years, when they go to school, they will be well and pass their papers, come back home and stand as strong people of Oyam district.
“So, I am saying, Do not allow anyone to play with your head, don’t allow yourself to be deceived that people are playing with your stomach while they are also playing with your head.
“If someone is hungry, you don’t elect a competent leader. A leader must make you satisfied first, and you line up to vote when your head is not confused. Elect a leader who will bring change in your life.
“Some people are also saying I don’t talk. Let me answer it this way: A person who talks a lot is like an empty tin. A person like me, who is paying fees for the children of Oyam district, have rehabilitated roads, distributed maize seeds across the district when even an MP of Oyam hasn’t done it.
“A person who speaks a lot is like an empty tin.”
