To ensure accountability and transparency in the implementation of the Parish Development Model (PDM), RDC of Dokolo Barbra Akech has tasked the leaders of Amuda PDM SACCO and the Community Development Officer (CDO) of Agwata Town Council to address the issue of six missing PDM beneficiaries.
The beneficiaries, who were intentionally left out by SACCO leaders, were removed from the list against PDM guidelines.
Akech cautioned the SACCO leaders to reinstate the six PDM groups that were removed from the shortlist before further actions are taken against them.
She also warned SACCO leaders to desist from extorting money from PDM beneficiaries, emphasizing that legal actions will be taken against those found guilty of such practices.
Pollycap Wacha, the Chairperson of Amuda PDM SACCO, revealed that they are facing challenges with the CDO office, including delays in work and communication gaps, which have delayed the PDM processes.
He also blamed the CDO for illegally removing six PDM SACCO groups from the list after it was resolved during the Annual General Meeting to benefit from PDM funds.
Francis Atoo, the CDO of Agwata Town Council, responded by stating that his office had received numerous ghost names among the beneficiaries, which is a sign of corruption and embezzlement of government funds by some individuals.
He clarified that his office recognizes only 17 SACCO groups in Agwata Town Council, and the additional six PDM groups were subscribed unlawfully, leading to their removal.
Sarah Auma, the Chairperson LCII of Amuda Eastern Ward, Agwata Town Council, revealed that they are facing challenges and confusion from SACCO leaders who are changing the names of beneficiaries without critical reasons.
Tonny Obel Obala, the LCIII Chairperson of Agwata Town Council, expressed his disappointment and concern over how SACCO leaders and the CDO are mishandling and subverting the PDM guidelines by removing the names of beneficiaries from the list.
John Bosco Ogwal, the Town Clerk of Agwata Town Council, applauded RDC Barbra Akech for resolving long-standing conflicts in Agwata Town Council regarding the PDM confusion, which had caused significant challenges.
He noted that he has received reports of money extortion by PDM SACCO leaders in Agwata Town Council and blamed the community for encouraging and increasing corruption in the country.
