Tony Olipa looks set to win NRM Lira City West chairmanship

Lira | Tony Olipa Lipton, a businessman turned politician, is expected to win the Lira City West NRM chairpersonship after “emerging as a formidable” candidate, according to supporters.

Prior to the crucial primary party polls on May 19, he attracted large crowds during his grassroots campaigns on May 13.

While campaigning in the wards of Barapwoa, Anani, and Jinja Camp, Olipa was hailed as “the king who saved Israel” by energized supporters.

Crowds of young people were heard chanting, “No more division!”

Olipa says he is ready to work with President Museveni and Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng to bridge factional divides within the NRM.

“We need transparent leadership from the grassroots, empowerment, party loyalty and enforcement of policies.

“I’m here to end leadership segregation. NRM isn’t a ladder for personal ambitions,” declared Olipa, referencing his 2011 political start as Alebtong youth councillor.

Olipa walks the talk, according to Kilama Simon, the chairperson of the NRM Jinja Camp. “We need his kind of integrity.”

On NRM reform, Olipa’s anti-factionalism stance resonates in the face of internal schisms and dynamics in Lira City West Division, and he adds that Lira’s commercial hub requires pragmatic leadership.

“Lira West needs doers, not talkers. My businesses created jobs—now I’ll create opportunities for all,” said Lipton.

Olipa is joined by Prossy Langol, ONC regional coordinator for Lango and Tony Ocen.
