Northern Gateway and Lira City Council FC share points

On Saturday, May 10, Northern Gateway FC and Lira City Council FC played to a 1:1 draw in the regional league.

The two clubs met in a Derby, with Northern Gateway’s Daniel Ocero scoring a penalty in the second half and LCC FC’s Emma Ongom equalizing with a header.

Northern Gateway FC is still leading with 35 points after having played the majority of their matches. Lira City Council FC, meanwhile, remains in second place with 26 points.

This season, LCC FC had three points deducted and was fined shs500,000 for using an eligible player against Tiger FC from the Amolatar district.

Looking ahead, both teams only have two league games left. Northern Gateway is left with Amati FC from Kamdini, Oyam, and Elite FC.

Lira City Council FC will play Elite FC and Amati FC.

Given their current standings, Northern Gateway FC appears to be on track to represent the Rhino Group in the playoffs against the Elephant Group’s table leaders in Acholi.

Head-to-Head

The two teams have a close rivalry. In their previous encounters, both teams won one match against the other.

Lira City Council FC won 1-0 on Sunday, April 14, 2024.

Northern Gateway FC won 1-0 on Saturday, December 9, 2023.

The 2024/2025 season was quite eventful, with LCC FC winning 3-1 against Northern Gateway SC, thanks to Patrick Alany’s brace and Odongo Brian’s goal.

Northern Gateway SC’s Daniel Ojok scored a crucial equalizer before LCC FC went ahead.
