On March 30, Boys FC won the 2025 Eid Cup tournament, defeating Lira Integrated Veterans FC in the final.
The match ended 0-0 in regular time, but The Boys won 3:2 on penalties.
They received a trophy, a cash prize of shs500k, and a goat.
Lira Integrated Veterans FC took home shs400,000 and a goat.
Palmerias FC, the second runner-up, received shs300,000 and a goat.
Amuca United FC, who finished third, received shs200,000 and a goat.
Individuals awards
Top scorer: Kirya Gerald (Integrated Veterans FC)
Best goalkeeper: Obel Jonathan (The Boys FC)
Most valuable player: Hudson (Palmeiras FC)
Most disciplined player: Coka (Palmeiras)
Best coach and the only female coach during the tournament: Atap Jane (The Boys FC).
The week-long tournament drew the attention of local political leaders. The final event was attended by Minister of Gender Betty Amongi, Minister of Health, and Lira City woman MP Dr. Ruth Jane Aceng Ocero’s representatives.
Aside from cash prizes worth approximately shs3 million, the two leaders also presented winners and runners-up with items such as balls and uniform sets, pledging to continue supporting sports in Lira.
