On Thursday, May 29, 2025, thousands of pilgrims from the Lango sub-region interacted with Jane Frances Acilo, an aspirant for Oyam district woman MP in 2026 on NRM party.
Jane’s presence and interactions with pilgrims, including those from the Oyam district, were an expression of “love, trust, and being close to those seeking spiritual healing and embarking on the walk of faith.”
While interacting with the pilgrims, Priest, and Sisters at St. Francis Catholic Parish in Matugga, she explained why she chose to be there, stating that she grew up in a religious family and is deeply religious.
She then went to St. Peter’s Church of Uganda Lwadda, Matugga, where she met and interacted with other Anglican pilgrims from Lango.
Throughout the meetings, she urged the pilgrims to stay faithful to God and committed as they approached the Namugongo Martyrs Shrines.

“I will be with you in Namugongo on June 3. When you see me, come to me and we talk,” she said.
As the sole means of combating poverty in Lango, Jane further urged the pilgrims to embrace commercial agriculture upon their return home.
Emmanuel Okello, age 10, is leading 49 pilgrims from Alanyi parish in Alebtong district. The teen, who expressed a desire to become a “padi” or priest, thanked Jane Acilo for her visit and support.
In primary four at Abako Nursery and Primary School, Emmanuel explained why he is going to Namugongo. “I want God to give me knowledge and wisdom so that I can study and serve Him as a Priest.”
Meanwhile, Jane’s support for pilgrims, priests, sisters, and reverends at St. Francis and St. Peter’s COU is valued at shs6 million, according to her political office.
Pilgrims expressed their love for “Acilo branded mineral water.” Some said, “The holy water has arrived, and our faith and energy will grow stronger.”
Politically, they stated that Acilo has demonstrated her ability to represent the women of Oyam, and that her visits were solely for the love she has for Lango.
She was described as “a generous Lango lady” and her political plans for Oyam district women recieved blessings from the cheerful pilgrims.
