A fatal road crash along the Kamdini-Gulu highway on Sunday claimed the life of Gulu district production officer, Lakor Jackson.
Lakor died in a horrific collision with a stationary trailer at Minakulu Upper Center.
According to SP Jimmy Patrick Okema, PRO of North Kyoga Region, Lakor was driving a motor vehicle with registration number UG 2785A, a Toyota Hilux.
The police report indicates that Lakor lost control of the vehicle and collided with a stationary trailer, registration number SSD 326V/ZE 0238, a Mercedes Benz Actros, at Minakulu Upper Center.
SP Okema added that the incident happened at approximately 15:20 pm. Lakor sustained severe injuries that allegedly led to his immediate death.
Traffic officers from Oyam district promptly responded to the scene. “Upon receiving the report, they took photographs and recorded statements from eyewitnesses,” said SP Okema.
The deceased’s body was removed from the vehicle and transported to Gulu Regional Referral Hospital for a postmortem examination.
Further investigations are ongoing, as stated by PRO SP Okema. “We urge motorists to exercise extreme caution, especially near stationary trucks.”
“Investigations will determine the exact cause,” he empathised.
