In a press statement released on May 14, 2025, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Republic of South Sudan has firmly refuted the unfounded rumors circulating on social media regarding the health of President Salva Kiir Mayardit.
The Ministry emphasized that these malicious reports claiming the President has passed away are completely false.
They reassured the South Sudanese public, as well as the regional and international community, that President Kiir is alive, in good health, and actively fulfilling his presidential responsibilities.
Expressing concern over the deliberate spread of misinformation, the Ministry condemned these rumors for inciting unnecessary panic and confusion, stating that such actions serve only those who seek to destabilize the nation and undermine its hard-earned peace and progress.
The Ministry labeled the rumors as “baseless” and a reflection of the intentions of those “opposed to peace, development, and nation-building efforts in South Sudan.”
They urged the public to disregard these claims and avoid sharing unverified information.
In conclusion, the Ministry reassured citizens that South Sudan remains stable, and the government is committed to the welfare of its people and the execution of its national duties without disruption.
Death rumours of Kiir’s death started circulating on Wednesday, with netizens, especially those from South Sudan posting “the news.”
