Amolatar | May 14, 2025, residents of the Epyel community in Amolatar town council gathered to express their heartfelt appreciation to Col. John Francis Ongia for what they call “his invaluable efforts” in repairing two broken boreholes.
The repaired boreholes can be found at Corner Sweetheart and near Abu Jokers’ place.
During the appreciation event, Okao Stephen Makula, chairperson of the local council (LC1), took a moment to recognise Col. Ongia’s ongoing benevolence, noting that his dedication to community welfare predated his parliamentary candidature.
“We should support individuals like Col. Ongia,” Makula urged. “He has already begun making a difference in our lives. Let us elect leaders who prioritize our needs.”
Joining the chorus of appreciation, Auma Nancy, a resident of Corner Sweetheart, expressed her unwavering support for Col. Ongia. “We stand firmly behind him,” she stated with conviction. His dedication to restoring our essential resources shows he cares for our community.”
In Awigweng village, Agwingiri sub-county, the mood was equally celebratory as local council (LC1) chairperson Ojok Walter conveyed his gratitude for the repair of another borehole that had been out of service for six long years.
“This improvement will lighten the burden for our wives and children,” Walter emphasized, highlighting the struggle many faced in their quest for clean water.
Mothers in the community shared their heartfelt stories about the challenges they encountered while fetching water during those years of scarcity.
Their voices echoed with joy and relief as they pledged their votes to Col. Ongia, ensuring that his valuable assistance would continue.
“We’ve waited too long for this change,” one mother remarked, her eyes glistening with hope. “Now that we have Col. Ongia supporting us, we feel empowered to advocate for our needs.”
Col. Ongia’s initiative has not only restored vital resources but has also united the community in gratitude and hopes for a better future.
As the voices of Epyel resonate with appreciation, they serve as a reminder of the impact one dedicated individual can have on the lives of many.
Col. John Francis Ongia is running for Kyoga County MP in 2026.
