Lira | According to her political office, Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng Ocero, the Health Minister and Lira City woman MP, is a woman who talks little but does a lot of work.
Dr. Aceng Ocero, a Christian who was unable to physically participate in a 10km walk of faith on Good Friday, sent her team with over 350 cartons of water to assist devout Christians in quenching their thirst.

The mineral water, which was custom-made and branded with photos of President Yoweri Museveni and Dr. Jane Aceng, was intended to replenish, re-nourish, and strengthen the spirits of Catholic and Anglican Christians as they walked through Lira City.
The Christians were overjoyed with Minister Aceng’s donation and thanked her for always doing what is right for human life.
“We hear she has been repairing boreholes and wells, just yesterday I heard she is giving us (the women) jerricans but today I have witnessed her unconditional love she has for us,” said one of the faithfuls.
On Friday, hundreds of believers participated in the Way of the Cross Procession.
“Imagine giving water for over 5000 people who were walking from the Catholic Church? This woman is amazing,” said Caroline Okallu, a voter from Ngetta Ward, in Lira City East Division.
“A testament to true love for humanity that was evident at the Lira Cathedral Ordination Ground, where they had gathered,” MP Aceng’s office said.
The Way of the Cross is significant in the Christian faith because it depicts our Lord Jesus Christ’s long journey to the Cross before being crucified.
In her message to Christians, Dr. Aceng urged the Christian community and the entire city of Lira to use the Easter season to repent and strive for a faithful life.
“Let us follow the steps of Jesus Christ and put love amidst suffering as Jesus did thousands of years ago. You may be suffering today but remember Jesus suffered and was resurrected three days later.”
She urged Christians to commemorate Christ’s resurrection on Sunday and forgive one another.
On the same day, during a service at Lira City Mayor’s Garden, Minister Aceng distributed hundreds of cartons of water to the Anglican community.
