Residents of Atomit village, Alwala parish, Acii sub-county, Amolatar, were shocked on February 4, 2025, when they discovered the lifeless body of an elderly woman.

The deceased, in her 80s, is said to have been murdered and locked inside her house.

Ongia Richard, LC1 chairperson of Atomit village, said the elderly woman was last seen on Sunday at Alwala market.

The local leader stated that she was discovered dead when her grandson’s wife went to harvest sweet potatoes.

When she arrived at the locked house, she pushed the door open, only to discover the great grandmother had been murdered.

Clearly visible signs indicate that she was assaulted. Her body was smeared with red paper.

Ongia speculated that the crime’s motive could be linked to the woman’s saving habits.

Ongia also stated that the elderly woman had no known disputes with anyone in the village.

By press time, officers from the Acii police outpost had arrived to investigate the heinous murder.
