Akena pledges full support for UPC official flag bearers

Orum, Otuke | Uganda People’s Congress (UPC) Party President Jimmy James Micheal Akena has reaffirmed his unwavering support for party candidates and welfare as he ramps up his campaign for the presidency in 2026.

On Sunday, Akena addressed a jubilant crowd at the Orum Primary School Playground in Orum Town Council, emphasizing the importance of unity and welfare in shaping the country’s future.

Amid cheers from his supporters, Akena assured them that the UPC would strongly support its candidates at all levels in the upcoming 2026 elections.

He emphasized that party structures must work together to achieve success.

“UPC is a party of the people, and our commitment to leadership is unwavering. We will fully support our candidates to ensure victory at all levels,” Akena emphasized.

Recognizing citizens’ economic hardships, Akena promised to prioritize welfare programs that would improve livelihoods.

Noting that leaders need to address the actual concerns of the people, he emphasized important areas like healthcare, education, and economic empowerment.

“We cannot build a strong nation if our people are struggling to access basic needs. My leadership will focus on enhancing social services through sustainable development,” he added.

Akena also used the platform to solidify his presidential aspirations for the 2026 general elections, calling on supporters to rally behind his vision for Uganda.

He assured the audience that the UPC is a formidable force in the country’s political landscape and is dedicated to reviving its historical legacy.

As he prepares for the presidency, Akena, who is also a Member of Parliament for Lira City East Division, emphasizes the importance of grassroots mobilization, unity, and strategic planning to ensure victory.

He urged his supporters to remain steadfast, register in the UPC register, and participate in all UPC political activities to ensure that the UPC emerges stronger in the upcoming elections.

Akena’s message in Orum resonates with many people, especially because he advocates for a people-centered approach to governance.

His promise to strengthen party structures, improve welfare, and provide dynamic leadership positions could propel him to prominence in Uganda’s changing political landscape.

In Orum town council, he opened yet another party office, which is anticipated to act as a hub for district-wide party activities, recruitment, and mobilization.
