On Monday, NTV Uganda posted an update on X. The post read, “Night Ampulire’s car has reportedly gone missing from Entebbe. Ampulire, a renowned fruit vendor who was given a pickup by MTN Uganda, explained that the car broke down and she was referred to a mechanic from Kampala. #NTVNews
“The mechanic requested 800,000 shillings for repairs. After using her savings, Ampulire paid 700,000 shillings. The mechanic then said he needed to test the car, but it was taken to an unknown location, and it has now been nearly two weeks without any word on its whereabouts.”
Following the above post, MTN Uganda had to to say:
“MTN Uganda has taken note of a story circulating on the social media platform X regarding the vehicle donated to Ms. Night Ampurire last year, following a report aired by NTV Uganda.
“Ownership of the vehicle was fully transferred to Ms. Ampurire, and as far as MTN is aware, it remains her property.
We share the public’s concern over the allegations suggesting that the vehicle in question may have been stolen. At this point, MTN Uganda has no information about the matter and has not been approached by Night or @ntvuganda on whose handle the story has been posted.
“We have reached out to Ms. Night Ampurire and will engage with her privately to ascertain the facts surrounding this story. Once the details are established, we will consider any necessary interventions to assist her address the situation appropriately.
“MTN Uganda remains committed to supporting the communities we serve and upholding the trust placed in us.”
