A 25 year old Pakistani citizen identified as Abdul Majid – a pharmacist and a resident of Gaga cell, Upper Ward, Koboko municipality has been remanded at Bukutu government prison.
Majid was held on allegation that he made a 15 year old girl who was working for him as a maid pregnant.
The teenager – whose name is concealed for obvious reason was detected to be pregnant by her guardian who soon alerted Mr Adaba Brian – the local council 1 chairperson.
The victim is a resident of Anyokonga parish, Abuku sub-county in Koboko municipality.
After the local chairperson’s intervention, the girl was asked who made her pregnant only to say ‘my boss’.
The matter was soon reported to Koboko Central Police Station and a case against the businessman was opened vide CRB 842/2018.
Will recording her statement, the defiled and pregnant girl told police that due to financial constraints in their home, leading to her dropping out of school, and having lost her maternal parents, she forced herself to work for the man.
She also says she was saving some money such that she can be able to go back to school.
Josephine Agucia – the West Nile police spokesperson confirms Majid Abdul’s arrest to our reporter, saying “[We] police have arrested him and he has been charged with defilement.”
According to Angucia, Abdul Majid’s file was sanctioned by Resident State Attorney, appeared before Court and was remanded to prison.
