Lira | Security operations continue in Lira City West Division, with yet another significant arrest of suspected criminals.
During a recent operation, security personnel apprehended over 17 criminal suspects. This brings the total number of arrested suspects to 54 in less than two weeks.
SP Jimmy Patrick Okema, the PRO of the North Kyoga Region, described it as “a coordinated intelligence operation” led by Lira City West authorities in the Teso-Bar area.
The operation was performed on December 16, 2024.
SP Okema confirmed that all suspects had been taken to the Lira City West Division Headquarters in Ojwina for detention.
Screening procedures had begun on Tuesday, and statements were being recorded from each.
“Their files will subsequently be submitted to RCSA for review and legal guidance prior to their court appearances.”
Okema emphasized that security forces are fully prepared to maintain a peaceful environment over the Christmas season.
He urged the public to work closely with the police to help create a crime-free society.
When asked why there are only operations and arrests in Lira City West and not City East, SP Okema had not responded by press time.
