Wolves’ guards arrested for murder of Ultimate guard

Jinja | Two private security guards have been arrested to assist Jinja police with their investigation into a fatal shooting in Buwenge. 

SP James Mubi, Kiira Police PRO, identified the arrested private security guards as John Ssabagabo, 20, and Patrick Obbo, 40.

The duo were guarding the MTN Service Centre in Buwenge town council, Jinja district.

“On Wednesday, November 6, 2024 at around 1am, two assailants yet to be identified and arrested attacked the private guards deployed at MTN Service Centre,” said SP Mubi.

According to preliminary findings, the suspected murderers opened fire on the guards, killing Calvin Abia of Ultimate Security Limited. The deceased was guarding EV Assets Management Company Limited.

“At the time of meeting his fate, he had left his deployment site and moved to check on his colleague identified as John Ssabagabo at MTN Service Centre with whom they had previously worked together at Wolves security group limited in Jinja city.

“Calvin Abia was shot with one bullet on the head, body taken to Jinja regional referral hospital to ensure post mortem is conducted,” SP Mubi said in a statement.

Mubi added that the police sniffer dog was introduced to the scene where one fired cartridge was recovered pending submission to forensics for thorough analysis.

A SAR rifle was also retrieved.

Prosecution-led investigations are underway to apprehend the perpetrators, he added.

Police have also appealed to the general public to share information that could lead to the arrest of the suspects, stating that any information shared will be kept strictly confidential.
