Kisoro by-election: NRM urges solidarity among supporters

Kisoro | The National Resistance Movement (NRM) has urged its supporters to stand together in support of Rose Kabagyeni.

Kabagyeni is the party’s candidate for Kisoro district woman Member of Parliament in the upcoming by-election.

Sarah Mateke died, leaving the seat vacant. Until her death, she was also Minister of State for Defence, Veterans Affairs.

Party officials from Kampala and Kisoro have addressed rallies in Rubuguri and Nkuringo town councils in Bukimbiri County, urging voters to band together and support Kabagyeni.

The NRM Deputy National Treasurer, Jacqueline Kyatuhaire, expressed confidence in their candidate’s chances of success, despite the presence of some individuals who previously lost in the NRM primaries and are now running as independents.

“We encourage the residents of Kisoro to reject such candidates, as every organisation, including our party, has established rules that must be adhered to.

“We are dedicated to securing victory in this election and urge local NRM leaders in Kisoro, especially the LC3 chairpersons, to avoid endorsing independent candidates using party resources,” Kyatuhaire stated.

“The response from the community has been positive and uplifting. I trust that we will all remain steadfast, dedicated, and resolute in our pursuit of victory for the NRM,” she added.

The NRM Director of Mobilisation, Rosemary Seninde, emphasized the importance of giving the party candidate a mandate in parliament, claiming that the NRM prioritizes the welfare of the Kisoro district population.

“Our initiatives are centred on reminding the citizens of Kisoro why they should support the NRM candidate. The essence of the NRM lies in unity, and its foundation is built on fostering togetherness.

“We must not allow divisions based on religion or tribal affiliations to undermine this unity. If the people of Kisoro permit such divisions, it would hinder progress for all.

“Our objective is to unite the community and collaborate to ensure a victory for the NRM in this election,” Seninde remarked.

Rose Kabagyeni reaffirmed her commitment to serving all citizens, emphasizing the need for improved service delivery.

“I may have limited time for campaigning, but my message to the electorate is unequivocal. Support NRM for peace, stability, growth, and development,” Kabagyeni stated.

During her campaign rallies, she was joined by several NRM secretariat officials, including Rogers Mulindwa, the senior communications manager, Samuel Eyenga, the senior mobilisation manager, and a member of the NRM District Executive Committee, as well as other local party leaders.
