Kisoro | UPC Party President Jimmy Akena will not be returning to the capital, Kampala, or Lira City for the time being because he is playing an important role in Kisoro district.
UPC sources say he will return after the Electoral Commission has declared the winner, district woman MP elect.
Akena has been in Kisoro district since last Saturday, leading the vote hunt for the UPC party’s candidate for the Kisoro district woman MP by-election.
Candidate Inagibire Mable is expected to win the November 14 election, but she is facing a relative tough competition from NRM Kabagyeni.
Both candidates and others are in the race to succeed Sarah Mateke, who died in September.
“This is the time for change and the return of the UPC to Kisoro District and the entire country,” says UPC Jimmy Akena.
Akena was speaking at the Nyarusiza sub-county headquarters in Bufumbira South when he delivered the final campaign message for Ingabire Mable.
