EU envoy lauds UPDF role in regional peace

Entebbe| Ambassador Johan Borgstam, the Special Representative of the European Union (EU) for the Great Lakes Region, has praised the UPDF’s efforts to stabilize the area.

While meeting with Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugabe, CDF of the UPDF, Ambassador Johan discussed regional security, Operation Shujaa’s progress, and future EU-Uganda cooperation.

Borgstam praised the UPDF’s vital role in maintaining regional stability, as well as their efforts to promote peace and security.

According to the CDF office, the EU Special Representative expressed strong admiration for the UPDF and pledged to work for stronger EU-Uganda relations.

The meeting, held at the Special Forces Command headquarters in Entebbe, was also attended by Ambassador Jan Sadek, Head of the EU Delegation in Uganda, and his deputy, Guillaume Chartrain.

Uganda has been strengthening its military ties with a couple of countries that have recently discussed “cooperation with the UPDF” leadership.
