Lira – January 7, 2022: Unidentified thugs have Friday, January 7, 2022, murdered Owiny Moris, 27.
Owiny was a boda boda rider in Lira City.
According to Charles Twiine, the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID) of the Uganda Police, Owiny’s motorcycle Reg. No UFF 660S Bajaj Boxer red in colour was taken by the thugs.
“The incident happed today at 8 pm at Senior Quarters ‘A’ in City West Division Lira City,” Twiine adds.“Please arrest the occupants and impound the motorcycle if seen,” he tells the public.

According to ASP Patrick Jimmy Okema, the North Kyoga Regional Police PRO, the territorial command at Lira City East Division are investigating the murder.
Okema, in his update on Saturday, says the deceased is a resident of Ober Kampala, Ojwina Ward Lira City West Division.

“It’s alleged that the deceased carried an unknown passenger on the 6th Jan 2022 at around 8 pm and on reaching Senior Quarters ‘A’ Cell at an isolated junction, the passenger stopped him (rider) and hit him on the head killing him instantly.
On the action taken, he says Police was notified, the scene was visited by a team of Police officers from Lira-City East Division who picked the body after analyzing the scene and took it to Lira Regional Referral Hospital mortuary for postmortem.
“Since the motorbike has a tracking device it has led us to the arrest of one suspect name withheld to support the police with the investigation,” he reveals.
ASP Okema conveyed the Police’s appeal to the general public, telling them to be very vigilant.
He asks boda-bodas, produce dealers, Mobile money attendants, shop attendants and others “that after people spending a lot during this last festive holidays, criminal can take advantage and commit offences related to that.”
