Lira |Agnes Linda Auma, a woman Member of Parliament from Lira district, donated over shs10 million to five different churches in Ogur sub-county on Sunday, September 15, 2024.
Auma was the chief guest at the fundraising event for St. Martin Bar Kwac Catholic Chapel in Agweng parish. She donated one million shillings.
MP Auma encouraged the congregation to value their places of worship by contributing what they can to church activities. She emphasised that without God, life would be unmanageable.
The woman MP thanked God for His love and reiterated her commitment to supporting church initiatives.
Monica Felix Ocaya, a church leader at St. Martin, expressed gratitude and urged other politicians to follow Auma’s example.
She expressed her disappointment with the lack of participation from other leaders in their fundraising efforts.
Auma gave more than twenty-five bags of cement to the Apoka St. Mark Church of Uganda. She also gave chairs and more cement to Yabwangi Chapel.
“Today, we are honoured to have you at our Chapel,” said Walter Olwoc, a church leader at St. Joseph Odoko Kome in Ogur Zone, Ngetta Parish.
The congregation at St. Augustine Te Agang Church of Uganda welcomed MP Auma warmly and enthusiastically. She reassured them of her commitment to sharing her resources, stating that her presence there demonstrated her dedication.
Auma acknowledged her responsibilities to both Erute North and South, promising to work for equitable service delivery and expressing her unwavering commitment to her constituents.
She also encouraged the community to form groups to gain access to government projects and programs.
