Soroti City West Police are investigating an attempted murder and arson case involving Amola Conzy, 24, a self-employed resident of Opiyai ‘B’ Cell in Opiyai Ward.
Wakabi Eliot, 30, allegedly attacked Conzy early on September 24, 2024.
According to reports, around 4:00 a.m., Eliot approached Conzy’s grass-thatched house with a bottle of gasoline, which he ignited before fleeing the scene, leaving her inside.
Conzy was severely burned on her face, hands, chest, abdomen, and other areas of her body. She was rescued by a bystander and transported to Soroti Regional Referral Hospital, where she is currently receiving treatment.
Preliminary investigations indicate that Eliot and Conzy had a strained relationship, which resulted in threats from Eliot after their separation.
Conzy had previously reported the threats to a local chairman, but no action was taken at the time.
