Pader: Bongtiko LC3 chairman remanded to Kinene for cattle theft

Pader

Pader | Bosco Oryem, chairman of Local Council 3 in Bongtiko sub-county, Pader district, and three others are enjoying life at Kinene government prison in Pader.

Oryem, Amiss Stephen, and Kilama John Bosco were remanded until July 30, when they will be brought back before the Grade One Magistrate Court.

They were remanded on July 10 on charges of cattle theft and abetting the crime in the area.

Additionally, the court is aware that the accused have been conspiring with thieves to steal cattle.

They denied that they had done anything wrong.

Meanwhile, Pader District Police Commander Jackson Bogere told tndNews that the accused were initially arrested by police officers for alleged involvement in animal theft.

A criminal case under SD 10/07/07/2024 has been opened against them.

Ben Odoki, LCI chairman of Okworo West village, stated that the chairman LC3’s troubles began on April 18, 2024, when Oryem claimed ownership of the animal.

However, another person, Goeoffrey Odong, obtained the animal with a forged document allegedly provided by John Bosco, the area LC1 and LC3 chairman, or Oryem Bosco.

Daniel Oloya represents Ogole on the sub county council. He stated that the arrest occurred at a time when residents began to suspect collaboration between the LC3 chairman’s office and the thieves, who they claim are receiving supportive documents after stealing their animals.
