Amolatar| In Amolatar district, corruption appeared to have taken centre stage before some locals noticed it in the open.
In recent weeks, a group of people from the ruling NRM party have appeared to point fingers at district leaders.
For example, Felix Adupa Ongwech, the district’s angry people’s leader, has accused Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) Samuel Mbiiwa.
Adupa, who is also the president of the Transformer Cadres’ Association, a group of politicians who have lost previous elections, accused CAO of corruption.
Last week, he issued an ultimatum to the CAO to provide him with relevant information about how funds allocated for roads in the district were spent.
The “defiant” CAO was called to Amolatar CPS a few days later to make a statement about accusations tagged on his palms.
Adupa and his group of about 100 people planned an interrupted Police-approved demonstration on July 3.
Their demonstration was intended to express their outrage at corrupt district leaders. Some leaders appear innocent to them.

Meanwhile, a “wanted person” has been identified in the district. He is among those accused of corruption and allowing the district’s roads to become impassable.
According to the district LC5 chairman, Ocen Geoffrey, the “wanted person” is Ecir Denis, the district engineer.
Ocen stated that the district has reported Ecir to the Amolatar CPS for allegedly stealing shs49.1 million intended for district roads.
Ocen declared on July 3 in a letter to media outlets in the Lango sub-region that whoever gets him arrested will receive a shs1 million reward.
The engineer was last seen around Uhuru Bar in Lira City.
“We now appeal to anyone with knowledge of his whereabouts or can aid his arrest or give guidance leading to his arrest or can arrest him and take him to the nearest police station to call 0782306824. This office will reward you with UGX1,000,000 immediately upon his arrest.”
“We count on your continuous support,” Ocen concluded.
