Lira | Shortlisted candidates for the UPDF in Kwania and Apac districts were recruited at the Florence Nightingale School of Nursing in Apac.
The exercise was carried out jointly by the UPDF vetting team and district leaders.
It identified and chose recruits to join the UPDF.
The exercise in these districts was not without its challenges. Three candidates from Apac district and two from Kwania district were found to have fake Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) papers.
They were promptly transferred to their respective District Internal Security Officers for further management.
The candidates were subjected to a physical fitness test following preliminary vetting.
This test included a 4-kilometer run to evaluate the candidates’ physical abilities.
All of the candidates who took the run were found to be physically fit and were later approved for additional military training.
In addition to the physical fitness test, the candidates underwent a thorough medical examination to ensure that only the most qualified and capable individuals join the army.
This step is critical in preparing candidates for the challenging and noble task ahead of them.
Captain Kato Ahmad Hassan, the Public Information Officer for the 4th Infantry Division, stated that the recruiting team was committed to selecting the “best candidates for the job.”
He also emphasised the importance of upholding the recruitment process’s integrity and standards in order to select only the most qualified candidates.
“This is an exciting time for recruits in Kwania and Apac districts because the recruitment exercise provides hope for a better future,” he said.
Apac and Kwania districts have produced 81 recruits.
