“National Day of Physical Activities” sees Health Minister Dr. Aceng in a brilliant light.

Kampala | Thousands of representatives from the public, private, and development sectors attended the “National Day of Physical Activities.”

The Ministry of Health organised the physical activity, which took place at the Makerere University Business School (MUB) sports ground in Nakawa, with support from the World Health Organisation (WHO) Uganda.

The day, launched in 2018, is part of the NRM government’s health ministry’s efforts to ensure that Ugandans are free of lifestyle diseases known as noncommunicable diseases.

These diseases include hypertension, cardiovascular and lung disease, cancer, and diabetes, among others.

The event, which included a variety of activities such as 10 and 5 km runs, five 5 km walks, aerobics, and cycling, was attended by top Ministry of Health officials as well as the Country Representative of the World Health Organisation in Uganda.

Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng Ocero, the Lira City woman MP and Minister of Health, led the physical activities beginning at 6.30 a.m. on Sunday.

Dr. Aceng advised Ugandans to exercise on a regular basis to reduce their chances of falling ill from lifestyle diseases, which are one of the top five health burdens Ugandans face.

She also praised Lira Regional Referral Hospital for always responding to her calls and organising a run for a healthy Lango.
