Entebbe | Dozens of clan leaders, including Won Nyaci Yosam Odur Ebii and Dr. Eng. Michael Odongo Okune, travelled to State House to meet with President Museveni.
The meeting aims to discuss Lango cultural issues, particularly those related to the election of the new paramount chief (Won Nyaci).
According to the law, cultural institutions fall under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Gender, Labour, and Social Development, which is led by Betty Amongi, the Oyam South MP.
When the President agreed to host and speak with Lango cultural leaders, Amongi took charge, and her Ministry released the names of those who would attend.
A couple of politicians were selected, among them LPG chairperson and Kole woman MP, Judith Alyek and some of her executives.
Her now nemesis, Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng, Lira City woman MP and Health Minister was not included among leaders to go to State House.
According to a source who spoke to tndNews, “the President was surprised that Dr. Aceng was missing when the list was given to him and yet the President values her capability.”
“The President made contact with her daughter (Dr. Aceng) and invited her to attend that important meeting,” added the source.
While Amongi had no prior knowledge of any Presidential contact with Dr. Aceng, she was disappointed by her “unexpected” appearance on Friday.
She would later be informed that Dr. Aceng was present because of the “high command” and that her presence was highly needed.
According to a State House source, the Lira City woman MP is one of the few individuals President Museveni holds in high regard in Lango.
